Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Vienna area.
Vienna is a city founded in medieval times, and built inside a ring. The older sections of the city and the best shopping are within this ring or along it. No expense was spared on the elaborate, largely Baroque-style architecture, reflecting the almost 700 year rule of the Habsburg Dynasty. The 826-foot Danube Tower provides an excellent view of Vienna, and is a good place to begin your exploration. The State Opera House, despite its antiquity, is known world round as the best place to enjoy opera, due to its superior acoustics, and the renowned Vienna Boys Choir still can be enjoyed at the Imperial Chapel of the Hofburg. Vienna’s superior public transportation system comprised of strassenbahn (streetcars), u-bahn (subways), schnellbahn (commuter trains), as well as regular buses and cabs makes private cars completely unnecessary. The spirit of Vienna’s personality is captured in the over 100 year old Riesenrad, the gigantic Ferris wheel constructed to honor the Emperor Franz Joseph’s golden jubilee and used in Orson Welles’ The Third Man, which uniquely defines Vienna’s skyline, especially at night when it is lit up. Between the small coffee and confection shops, and the ornate architecture, a visit to Vienna is like spending time inside a beautiful and priceless antique that time will continue to respect forever.
